800 Calorie Diet Menu and Meal Plan

How to Lose Weight and keep it off permanently Starting Today!

7 Odd Foods that KILL Your Abdominal Fat?

One successful way to get rid of the excess pounds is to reduce your calorie intake. When the calorie count that you consume is lesser than the average, normal calorie intake it will lead to weight loss. A number of diet plans are available to help us consume fewer calories than we usually do. The 800 calorie diet menu and meal plan is one such diet plans which limit the calorie intake of a person to 800 calories per day. This diet plan falls under the category of Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) and should never be practiced without the approval and monitoring of your doctor. This diet plan is only recommended for people who are dangerously overweight and for people whose obesity may lead to life threatening situations. Doctors recommend this diet for people whose Body Mass Index (BMI) is greater than 30. People who take this diet usually lose 3-5 pounds per week and a total of around 50 pounds in twelve weeks.

This diet should not be tried by anyone at home. Getting a doctor's recommendation is mandatory with this diet plan, as the calorie intake per day is dangerously low and taking this diet without medical supervision can lead to many medical complications. Never ever follow this diet without your doctor's approval.

How is the 800 calorie diet menu formulated?

The 800 calorie diet menu and meal plan is generically formulated by replacing most of the regular food with meal replacement supplements and liquid diets. The exact diet formulation will be designed by your physician depending on a lot of factors like your weight, age, medical conditions etc. He will give all the details about what to eat and when and will also ask to see you every two weeks or so when you are taking the diet. You will be completely monitored during this period by your doctor. Because of the drastic calorie reduction, your blood pressure, pulse, changes in weight are closely followed and recorded by the physician. Moreover blood tests are also taken every two weeks to make sure that you are alright. The doctor will also recommend behavioral therapy and physical training exercises as a part of the diet plan. So you can understand how dangerous and foolish it would be to take these diets by our own without the support of a doctor.

800 calorie diet menus:

Furnished below are a few well known 800 calorie diets.

  • Medifast: This diet plan is endorsed by John Hopkins University and the calorie intake when following this plan is limited to 800-1000 calories per day. Therefore this is strictly not a VLCD.
  • Optifast: This difficult to follow diet plan is widely practiced in a lot of clinics in the US and Canada.
  • The Cambridge diet: This diet has a very low calorie level of around 400-600 calories and is used in the UK.

Medifast:

The Medifast meal plan is made of up to five meal replacements a day. Meals can be substituted with bars, soups, shakes and oat meals. Besides this, the meal plan also recommends one meal per day that constitutes of lean meat and two cups of vegetable salad. A minimum of 64oz of fluids should be consumed in a day and it is better to consume some fluid every two to three hours.

Optifast:

This program followed in clinics comprises of the following:

  • Initial medical analysis before the diet is launched and continuous monitoring when the diet is being followed.
  • Counseling on behavior, lifestyle and nutrition that need to be followed to maintain the weight.
  • A predominantly liquid diet.
  • Regular physical activity.

This program is offered as a 26 week plan during which care is taken to ensure that the person taking the diet properly transitions to the regular meals.

The Cambridge Diet:

The Cambridge diet is a very low calorie diet and should not be tried without medical supervision. In this diet plan, regular meals are replaced with precise amounts of vitamins, calories and nutrients that are available as bars or in sachets. Copious amounts of water should be consumed to keep the metabolism balanced and to avoid constipation.

Side effects:

Following the 800 calorie diet will have a lot of side effects as there is a steep reduction in the calorie intake. People following the 800 calorie diet plan usually complain of fatigue, diarrhea, constipation and nausea. There is also a possibility of serious complications like gall-bladder stones if the weight loss process is too quick. So it is very critical to follow this diet plan along with medical supervision. Be aware that this diet plan is a risky endeavor and so never ever try to do this all by ourselves and put your health at jeopardy.

How to Lose 10 Pounds in 2 Days

How to Lose Weight and keep it off permanently Starting Today!

7 Odd Foods that KILL Your Abdominal Fat?

A lot of diet programs or pills promise that you can lose 10 lbs in 2 days. But what is the truth?

The truth is that it's virtually impossible to lose 10 pounds in as little as 2 days. There simply isn't enough time for the body to burn enough calories. In order to burn off that much calories you will need a little more time. Especially if you want to do it in a healthy way which will make it easy to maintain this weight loss into the future. So don't believe any diet pill which promises to get you to lose 10 pounds in two days. They are simply after your money.

So how fast can you really lose 10 pounds?

Even if you use the fastest diet there is, which is a detox and cleansing diet, you'll still need a minimum of 3 days in order to become 10 lbs slimmer. That is done by purging your body of a lot of undigested calories. It's actually a juice diet (usually lemonade based) which clears your body of a great deal of useless calories. In 3 days it's possible to achieve your weight loss goal. However, it's not the best diet when it comes to maintaining your weight loss later on. But if you've got a big event coming up and you want to look your best, it can work for you. The best detox diet there is is called the Master Cleanse diet (you can read a review of it further down).

Another weight loss method which can get you to lose 10 pounds fast, and I find it to be the best one, is called Calorie Shifting, better known as Fat Loss 4 Idiots. This is a weight loss method which is based on the scientific discovery that you can cause your metabolism to run high by shifting the types of calories you eat. In this way, you can eat a reasonable amount of food (unlike other diets), and still lose weight.

Fat Loss 4 Idiots can get you to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks. It's slower than a cleansing diet, but it's healthier and it's easier to maintain the weight loss into the far future.

Which ever diet you choose, I wish you the best of luck.

Detox Diet Fruit and Vegetable Cleanse - Easy Way to Lose 13 Pounds in 2 Weeks

How to Lose Weight and keep it off permanently Starting Today!

7 Odd Foods that KILL Your Abdominal Fat?

Why do a detox diet?

Well for me it was a combination of several things. Maybe you can relate to a few of my reasons to give a detox cleanse a try.

-I had gained some weight due to some stress eating and I wanted those pounds gone fast!

-I was feeling lethargic rather than energetic in the morning. This could have been due to my stress eating at night and I wanted to stop that bad trend.

-I just felt more ache-y in my body. Hey, I know I am getting older but overall I just did not feel healthy and vibrant.

For the three reasons above I decided to embark on a detox diet cleanse and see if I could turn my low energy, "not feeling healthy," getting super pudgy body around. Sounds like a tall order right? I thought so too.

Now I realize that doing a detoxing or cleansing diet  for a few days will not turn around months or years of living a less than healthy lifestyle. What I hoped, however, was that it would help me "shock" my system back into submission and get me headed in a more healthy direction and of course I wanted to lose some pounds at the same time.

I decided to do a 14 day fruit and vegetable cleanse.

What I liked about it was that I could eat basically all that I cared to eat (so I would not be hungry) - the catch was that whatever I ate had be only fruits and vegetables. And the fruits and veggies had to be RAW - no cooking for 14 days.  That may sound drastic, but let me tell you it was not as hard as I thought it would be. I followed through with the entire 14 days and I was not hungry the entire time. I even came up with some pretty creative and tasty raw fruit and vegetable dishes that I still like to eat to this day.

What was my result after 14 days?

I lost 13 pounds and that totally rocked! I felt a lot more energetic - probably because I cleansed out quite a bit of junk from my body's system. And overall my body just felt better.  I am a true believer when it comes to detox diets now. I think if you are doing the right one for you - you can't go wrong and the results are pretty cool.

Nutrisystem vs. MediFast - A Comparison of Two Popular Diet Plans, Nutrisystem & MediFast

How to Lose Weight and keep it off permanently Starting Today!

7 Odd Foods that KILL Your Abdominal Fat?

You may have decided that using a diet meal replacement plan or diet food plan would be the easiest way for you to lose weight. However, there are so many plans available; you may not know which program would work the best for you. In this article I will compare two very popular diet food, meal replacement plans Nutrisystem and MediFast. These diet plans may seem similar, although once you read about each plan, you will find they are very different.

Nutrisystem Overview:

Nutrisystem offers prepackaged, pre-portioned diet meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. You are advised to add fresh vegetables, fruits, salads to lunch, and dinner meals. The meals are low calorie, yet nutritionally sound with the added fresh fruit and vegetables. The diet meals are based on low glycemic, good carbs, with the right amount of protein and fiber that your body needs for increased fat and calorie burning.

The Nutrisystem program also offers a free weight loss community website where you can get free diet counseling, weight loss tips and community support in your weight loss endeavors.

Nutrisystem advises if you eat their prepackaged diet meals and follow their plan, you can potentially lose 1 to 3 pounds a week.

MediFast Overview:

MediFast offers prepackaged diet meal replacement foods including shakes, soups, bars, pudding, drinks and cereals. Their name basically sums up how their plan works; you are "fasting" most of the day. Their most popular program is the 5 and 1 diet program where you eat 5 MediFast meals a day and 1 low calorie, low fat meal you cook and prepare yourself. Their plan is designed to be calorie deficient (between 800 - 1000 calories a day), thereby allowing your body to use fat for energy.

MediFast also offers a free weight loss community website where you can get diet support, weight loss tips, diet recipes and more.

MediFast advises if you follow their 5 in 1 diet program and use their diet meal replacements you can potentially lose up to 20 pounds in a month.

The Cost:

Nutrisystem costs about a day, a week and 8 a month plus shipping, although if you choose their auto-ship program, you will get a discount and a free week of diet meals and free shipping.

MediFast costs about a day, a week or 5 a month if you order one of their 4-week variety packages.

Both Nutrisystem and MediFast offer a money back guarantee minus shipping if you choose to return unopened packages of the diet meals within 30 days.

The Difficulty:

Nutrisystem: Using the Nutrisystem diet meals for weight loss should be an easy transition since you will be eating regular meals and snacks. You may find the calorie reduction in the meals leave you hungry or not satisfied. The convenience of the prepackaged, very little preparation of the diet meals should make the program easier to follow. Staying on the diet for a long term may become difficult because of the lower calorie intake makes you feel unsatisfied. The taste of the foods (which will be discussed next) may also be hard to enjoy.

MediFast: Transitioning to the MediFast meal replacement plan may be difficult at first since you will be replacing most of your meals with a meal replacement shake, soup or bar. Sometimes a drastic change in your eating habits can be a bonus because it may give you a greater feeling of dieting control. Staying on the diet for a long term may be very difficult because of the monotony of replacing 5 meals a day with the MediFast foods and the taste of the foods.

The Taste:

Nutrisystem: There are reports and reviews throughout the internet regarding the taste of Nutrisystem's diet meals. Some people rave about the taste (although these "raves" may be biased if the person is promoting the program), and many people absolutely hate the taste of the diet meals. On average, many Nutrisystem dieters report they have favorite diet meals, while some suffer through the taste of the meals because of the convenience of the program and the weight loss achieved. Recently, Nutrisystem listened to their customers and introduced many new "better tasting" diet meals that may be more palatable.

MediFast: There are also mixed reviews on the taste of MediFast meal replacements. On average, many MediFast dieters report that the tastes of the meal replacement foods are "okay," not overly tasty, yet good enough to stay on the diet program to achieve weight loss goals.

Conclusion:

Nutrisystem diet meal plan is a convenient, diet food program that offers a membership site with diet counseling and diet tips. The transition to using their diet foods should not be too difficult since it is recommended to eat 5 diet meals a day supplemented with fresh fruit and vegetables. Since the diet meals should be less calories than you normally eat, and designed to increase your body's ability to burn fat, you can expect to lose 1 to 3 pounds a week. The diet plan may work best for people who may need a support group for weight loss, yet are too busy to shop for and prepare diet meals, and don't have time to continually analyze food calories and fat grams.

MediFast diet meal replacement program is also a convenient weight loss program that offers a community forum, diet support and tips. The transition to using their diet meal replacements 5 times a day may be difficult. Yet, it may also help many dieters resolve to stay on the diet plan since the results may be realized fast with up to 20 pounds lost in the first month. The diet program may work best for people who need to lose a significant amount of weight. In addition, it can also work well for those who desire convenient meal replacements, yet also wish to prepare a fresh meal once a day.

Fruit and Vegetable Diet Cleanse - How Did I Lose 13 Pounds in 14 Days Eating Carbs?

How to Lose Weight and keep it off permanently Starting Today!

7 Odd Foods that KILL Your Abdominal Fat?

I recently shared how I lost 13 pounds in 14 days doing a fruit and vegetable cleanse. I actually stayed on the cleanse for a total of 6 weeks (42 days) and lost 23 pounds total!

I ate lots of fresh whole fruits and tasty vegetables. I was never hungry. And with the system I followed, the weight came off fast.

I got some feedback that people were surprised I could lose weight eating so many carbohydrates.

So I thought it might be helpful to review the truth about good carbohydrates and bad carbohydrates so you can see that all carbs are definitely not created equal!

Carbs have been bashed a lot in the media, however, there really are good carbohydrates and in a balanced healthy diet there is room for plenty of the "good" ones.

What are good carbs? Good carbohydrates are complex carbohydrates. You find them in whole fresh foods like fruits and vegetables. They have not been processed and their molecular structure has not been altered. Our bodies are genetically set up to eat these foods. Good carbohydrates are filled with vitamins, minerals and other important nutrients that are necessary for good health. They also stabilize your blood sugar because of the way your body digests them.

On the other hand, "bad" carbs are the ones that break down in your body very rapidly and they cause a hefty surge of insulin that throws your blood sugar into disarray. Bad carbs also promote storage of fat on your body.

What are bad carbs? They are also known as simple carbohydrates and you mainly find them in the form of refined sugar and processed grain products.

Why do they break down in your body so fast? Because they are NOT whole foods - they are foods that have been altered through chemical processing in factories and many times the most nutritious parts of the foods have been removed during the process. Bad carbs are mostly found in packaged foods like pasta, crackers, white bread, baked goods and many other foods that are made predominantly with white flour and sugar and contain little or no fiber.

So how did I lose all that weight in such a short time eating a lot of carbohydrates?

My diet consisted primarily of good complex fresh whole food natural carbohydrates (i.e., lots of fruit and vegetables).

Despite everything you have heard about how carbohydrates can make you fat, if you stick with complex whole food "good" carbs you can lose weight fast just like I did.

How to Make the Lemon Detox Diet Drink - The Correct Recipe and Ingredients

How to Lose Weight and keep it off permanently Starting Today!

7 Odd Foods that KILL Your Abdominal Fat?

Getting this very simple recipe right is crucial to your ultimate result.

Ingredients for the Lemon Detox Drink

  • 2 Tablespoons Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup Grade B
  • 1/10th Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 8 fl Oz's Pure Water

Mix all of the ingredients together in a glass and enjoy! Initially you may find the cayenne pepper a little hot, especially if you are not used to spicy food but this is something that you also become accustomed to very quickly.

I was quite surprised at how hot it was when I first tried it but I was soon adding extra cayenne for an even stronger detox towards the end.

You'll need to drink a minimum of 6 detox drinks throughout the day. Somewhere between 8 - 12 is ideal. Make sure that you are also drinking plenty of fresh pure water throughout the day too.

Whenever you start to feel a bit hungry, go and mix yourself a drink. This tends to keep hunger pains at bay pretty quickly. Once you get past day 3, you'll probably find that you will experience very few actual hunger pains although about 1 in 4 people do say that they have regular hunger pains throughout. But don't worry, I've got a good feeling that you'll be one of the lucky other 3!

The drink is best made fresh each time that you want to drink it but this sometimes isn't possible, especially if you are heading off to work. To try and maintain the cleaning power of the lemon enzymes, make a concentrate of the maple syrup and the lemon juice and just add water when you want to drink it.

**TIP**

So if you were planning on drinking 3 drinks whilst you were out, you would need to make up a concentrate of 6 tablespoons of lemon juice and 6 tablespoons of maple syrup.

To make life easier on yourself, take 3 separate bottles of water each containing 8 fl Oz's of pure water but with the capacity for 10 fl Oz's as you will be adding your concentrate to it.

You'll need to pack a tablespoon for measuring and your cayenne to add at the end. (you can add 3/10ths of a teaspoon of cayenne to the concentrate but cayenne tends to get hotter when it hits liquid and is left for a period of time).

Once you're ready for a drink, just get your concentrate out and give it a good shake, then measure 4 tablespoons into the bottle, add your cayenne, shake and drink!

**Tip**

If hunger creeps in just distract yourself. I decided to detox my house whilst I detoxed my body. There is nothing quite like cleaning to keep you focused and distracted. My house had never looked so good by the time I had finished my detox and of course it helps when you get so much more energy than you normally have.

If you don't have a house to clean try some light exercise as this will make you feel great and keep your mind off food. Don't forget to keep drinking the detox drink and replenishing your water supplies.
